Week 05.01.16: Snow in May
Today I'm writing from the Tamarack Lodge located in Mammoth. The scene is straight out of a novel: our little cabin 15 poetically placed in front of a gorgeous fresh water lake with the mountains showing off their fresh blankets of snow. It's hard to believe it's May and that Sam and I are in California. To think it was less than a week ago we were sipping piña coladas on the beaches in Cuba. Needless to say it has been a whirlwind of a year but somehow it's almost perfect timing to jump back into our online journal that we started at the beginning of our relationship.
So how did all this time pass? How come no blog posts? Or better yet: how on earth are you in Mammoth, in May, with snow? Well, easy answer first: Sam loves Spring skiing and I needed time to work on what's next. The last year left little time for writing as I jumped back into my professional career as an art director with a couple of amazing beauty brands, which had my attention focused on product launches, photo shoots, marketing campaigns and brand building.
Outside of work, Sam and I got engaged, adopted a tiger and traveled to Idyllwild and the desert as much as possible. We also hit the road for another Burning Man. Sandwiched right in the middle of it all: we got married in Joshua Tree. Last but not least...we moved 3 miles away from our favorite neighborhood, Atwater Village, which we called home for 3 years, to our new Berrini Bungalow in North East Hollywood. Quite possibly the most convenient location to all of our must have coffee stops. While the move wasn't easy as we have way too much "stuff", it brought us a nice big backyard for the pets. But what has been easy this last year? Getting caught in the hustle, especially when you love what you do! But family planning is calling and the time Sam and I have to be a honeymooners is quickly coming to an end. Let's be real: I'm not getting younger and one day we hope to get this party of two to a party of three. So it's time to get busy livin' and creating those cocktails because honey, VIVIR MI VIDA!
