Never Too Late to Say Goodbye: Storm Thorgerson

It's sad when the world loses a great creative mind. Storm Thorgerson was epic. The best of the best. Without even realizing it this man played a huge part of my design aesthetic and catalyst for my music and cover art obsession. It was beyond my first time of listening to Dark Side of the Moon that Storm Thorgerson made his impression on me. When I was about 8 years old, Floyd's tour Momentary Lapse of Reason was talk of the town and the local radio show announced a contest...winning tickets to the person who did the best display of affection for Pink Floyd. Multiple people created odes to Pink Floyd's cover art that were placed around town. Well, for some reason this stuck out in my head. Maybe it was my brothers who always had me with them during their travels (talk about adventures in babysitting) but Animals, I'm a sucker for that glorious pig, managed to create memory burn and from that moment I was a fan. Storm's work was simple but complex which helped to serve so many musicians messages.  His mediums transcended across graphic layouts (Dark Side) to amazing photography like the man on fire from Wish You Were Here. Never over doing it, just pure creativity giving you a visual to support the music.
