Music Mania 2 / Dance, Cook, Dance
The word on the street is that I'm trying my hand at cooking. Well, it's true. I'm entertaining myself these days with kitchen challenges, some of which I would prefer NOT to talk about—long story but it involves beer mac and cheese. After years of bucking kitchen duty my time has finally come to put these cooking genes in gear. Let's just say my granny could make a mean pot roast so I got this. Well, this weekend I took it up a notch and went balls out with Wit + Vinegar's Butternut Squash and Chorizo Shells recipe. I knew once I saw this bad boy that I had to try it. How could I go wrong? Anything with tons of cheese in it ranks high in my books. I was so jazzed about this mission that I ran to 3 grocery stores for the right chorizo (tip: go to your local market not Trader Joe's) and by the time I got home I still had time to do a dance while prepping the ingredients—hence the playlist name. But don't get me wrong I did have some hurdles to overcome like peeling a squash which is a total workout and my blender broke as soon as I put the mixture in. Luckily I had 2 hungry men on standby to help mash it up. Take that crappy blender (insert flexing bicep emojicon here)! The end result was a quiet dinner which you now means success! Everyone zoned out on their plates with the occasion comment of how awesome it was that the blender broke so we could savor the chunks of squash. Don't you just love fate? The best part came the next day when we made some mean eggs and mash. I have to say it is the perfect hangover food. So today's playlist is dedicated to Billy Green from Wit + Vinegar for inspiring me to overcome my fear of touching meat (yes I know I'm lame) and taking a risk in the kitchen. This dance is for you Billy!
