Weekend Wrap: 1/4-6/13
Mondays suck. Plain and simple. So how to beat these Monday blues? Let's recap the weekend.
Sam and I just moved to Atwater Village and our new neighborhood is exactly what we have been looking for (minus the skunks). Since this is our first real weekend together, we found some time to venture out and get to know the newly appointed hipster neighborhood a little better.
First stop: The Morrison From the guys that brought Stout to Cahuenga Corridor, this Scottish theme gastropub has some killer drinks to boot. Don't mistake it for the Griffin, this black and gold building is perfect for a meet up with your beer buds since they have a ton of beers on tap, with a few local breweries featured. While Sam went with a California brew and I fell for their Pompous Twit (a perfect nightcap to my long week filled with twits). For dinner their noteworthy meat pie (sounds gross but was amazing) and pork chops with pecan stuffing sealed the deal on delicate, delicious flavor. Glad we got a chance to hit this pub prior to all the hipsters and foodies perching on the grounds.
Saturday: Silver Lake Dog Park No weekend is complete without a trip for to the dog park. Right next to the Silver Lake Reservoir we took advantage of the small dog park filled with muddy mayhem for Willie Nelson's first adventure while Buju just kicked it like a burner.
Speaking of burners, Sam and I finally finished the season of Freaks and Geeks. I'm sad to say it's over – so many great one-liners and characters, I'll be forever grateful to Samuel for introducing me to Millie and Bill.
Before checking in on the Weirs, we left the hood for Gallery 1988's 2-man show with Bennett Slater and Andrew DeGraff featuring cult favorite themes like Star Wars trilogy, Beetlejuice, Pee-wee Herman (seen above) and others.
Last but not least, Poketo helped me to continue my resolutions in the right direction. Picked up these 2 hot items to document my progress.
